Canvas US was started by Taylor McAtee out of his passion for capturing the beauty that's present in the world around us, but not often seen. He chooses to capture this beauty with multiple exposure photography.
Almost all of the work on this site is High Dynamic Range Photography (HDR). What that basically means is that McAtee takes several different shots of each subject at different exposure values. Some over exposed(letting too much light in to the camera) and some under exposed(not letting enough light into the camera.) He then layers all of these separate exposures on top of each other in PhotoShop, pulling out what he likes from each individual exposure.
That is where the real artwork begins. McAtee can spend anywhere from 6 to 60 hours on any one piece that he sees through to production. For every 2000 images shot only about 10 make it to what he calls the "trial" phase and of those 10 one or two will make it all the way through to production.
